John E. Harms Jr. started his own firm in 1955 following a successful career with Whitman, Requardt and Associates.   Originally located in Glen Burnie, Harms and Associates' corporate headquarters moved to its current location in Pasadena, Maryland in 1962.  A satellite office in Frederick, Maryland opened in 1996, and a third office opened in Easton, Maryland in 2005.

Founded as a civil engineering company, over the years Harms and Associates has broadened its services to meet client demand.    Since its inception, the firm has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in engineering services and a superior level of responsiveness.

Throughout its history, Harms and Associates has been honored with:

A native of Hagerstown, Maryland, John Harms received his bachelor of engineering degree in civil engineering from Johns Hopkins University.  He holds professional engineer licenses in Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.  He served on the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers for the State of Maryland from 1986 through 1998.
